April 4, 2023 Consolidated Election

The next upcoming consolidated election will be Tuesday, April 4, 2023. There will be no primaries held for Village offices, since the Village of Itasca elects its officials in independent, at-large elections. 

The following 4- year offices are up for election in the Village of Itasca:

It is the responsibility of the potential candidate to verify filing requirements for the 2023 Consolidated Election with the State Board of Elections or with an attorney who is versed in election code.

All candidates are encouraged to review the 2023 Candidate Handbook published by the State Board of Elections. The guide provides information on the election process to prospective candidates seeking office at the local level. It also provides general information, such as requirements for filing nominating papers, specific forms to be used, etc. 

Forms and other pertinent information regarding the election can be found at Illinois State Board of Elections website. The Village Clerk's office has prepared courtesy packets which can be obtained online below in the resource section or in-person at Village Hall starting Tuesday, September 20, 2022. 

Required Forms

To file for candidacy, individuals must submit the following documents to the Village Clerk’s Office at 550 W. Irving Park Road no later than Monday, December 19th:

  • Notarized petition sheets with the required number of signatures, numbered consecutively starting with the number “1”
    • Please note that the Village Clerk’s office will NOT provide notary services for nominating petitions and will not provide specific advice regarding any candidacy. 
  • Notarized Statement of Candidacy
  • Statement of Economic Interests receipt  (available from and filed with the DuPage County Clerk's Office)
  • Notice of Obligation
  • Loyalty Oath (Optional)
  • Candidate Packet

Filing Times

Below are the dates and times that the Village Clerk's Office will receive nominating packets in person. Please note, the Village Hall is not open on Saturdays and Sundays. Nomination packets will not be received during any other time periods or if deposited in the payment drop box located outside Village Hall.

  • Monday, December 12, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 
  • Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 
  • Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 
  • Friday, December 16, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 
  • Saturday, December 17, 2022 - Not available
  • Sunday, December 18, 2022 - Not available
  • Monday, December 19, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Determining Ballot Order

Candidate names will be places on the ballot in the order in which the qualified petitions have been filed.  However, if there are simultaneous filings at 8:00 a.m. on the first day, a lottery will be held to determine which filer is named on the election ballot first.  For any petitions filed between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. on the last day, a lottery will be held to determine which filer is named on the election ballot last.  Any lottery will be held on December 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Village Hall.

Objections

Nomination papers shall be deemed to be valid unless objections are filed in writing (an original and two copies) within five business days after the last day for filing nomination papers. The objector’s petitions are filed with the same office in which the nominating petitions are filed. Objections may be filed during regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Please note: Village Hall offices will be closed Monday, December 26th

The deadline for filing objections at Village Hall is:

  • Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.
